STOP
(2025) 10 mins 13 secs
STOP is based on a 10 minute static camera video I made in Hong Kong International Airport in September 2025. I had just flown many many hours without sleep and was facing a 9 hour layover. I found just being there strangely surreal. The sounds and activity on this central concourse fascinated me, and later I tried, perhaps like a painter does, to not just capture the immersive scene, but also the 'state of seeing' I was in. And similarly the gently abstracted sound.
The result is STOP - where figures become transparent when moving, sound leans toward music and the only one who has really stopped is the observer. This doesn't have to mean anything; it is more like gazing deep into a pool of water and wondering.
